Mowille – Artist of the Month (July 2020)

Introducing Mowille, a versatile Anglo’Yoruba Afro-beats artist based in the UK, who sings and raps in his mother tongue (Yoruba) and English creating a niche for himself with his comic yet quality delivery in his songs.

Education: Born in the late ’80s to the Durodola’s family in the Pace Setting city, Ibadan, Oyo State. He started his elementary school at Oluyole Private School, secondary at Oluyole Extension High School and two years foundation course in Agric Econs at UNAAB. Graduated with second class upper in ITMB at Greenwich University London

The Journey: Music has always been a huge part of and passion for Mowille right from his early years as a chorister at St Mary’s Anglican Church, Oluyole where he joined at age 4 in the tenor category. By age 20, he had advanced into writing songs in poetic form. Ever since then, he has been serenading his fans with greatly enriched music with a fine infusion of Afrobeats, RnB, HipHop, and Contemporary.

Inspiration Tap: Life experiences of his and others around him coupled with what happens in his environment influences what he speaks and writes about. Mowille is a huge fan of old school music both home and abroad because of the vast wisdom and in-depth lyrical contents he can tap into in them.
